Phil Wood crank bolts are machined from stainless steel and are 20mm long, which allows for more than 3/4″ of engagement with the spindle.

The threads are first cold-forged, then the bolts are subjected to two heat-treat processes to maximize their strength. The head of the bolt accepts an 8mm hex head wrench.
