James Kenneth Ralston, born in 1896 in Choteau, Montana, was an artist known for his depictions of the old West, especially cowboys and Native Americans. After attending the Chicago Art Institute and serving in World War I, he became a full-time artist in the 1930s. His works, including murals, are displayed in museums such as the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and the Montana Historical Society. Ralston received a Gold Medal from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1978 and passed away in 1987. His legacy lives on through the J.K. Ralston Museum.
